An accomplished behavioral health executive, Reina Hudson has over 15 years of experience in operational management and program development and implementation. Reina has worked in a wide range of clinical settings with individuals of all ages. She focuses on improving health outcomes by identifying service gaps and designing programs to meet community needs.

Before joining Health Management Associates, Reina was the adult behavioral health executive director at Merakey Allos, overseeing all the nonprofit’s adult behavioral health services in the State of California. In addition to providing clinical management, Reina drove organizational growth and enhanced the service delivery system by identifying and pursuing strategic business opportunities. She designed programs and developed proposals, obtaining new business in counties with and without a demonstrated presence. She also monitored program performance and implemented effective treatment standards, policies and procedures to ensure high quality care.

Reina’s experience spans healthcare settings including schools, hospitals, community-based organizations, managed care organizations, counties and the California Department of Children and Family Services. She also possesses in-depth knowledge of California’s managed Medi-Cal models and California’s behavioral health systems of care. Drawing on her broad knowledge base, Reina works to expand services and promote collaborative partnerships to improve healthcare accessibility for all.

Reina has demonstrated success building relationships with key stakeholders throughout her career. She has established partnerships between health benefits companies and counties, implemented community engagement strategies, and supervised memorandums of understanding between health plans and county behavioral health departments, public health departments, regional centers, and school-based services.

These efforts resulted in innovative pilot programs and strategic initiatives that delivered both business growth and improved care. As California Health and Wellness’ community programs director, she developed a program to monitor collaboration between the plan and local public and private organizations.

While developing these new programs and managing existing operations, Reina promoted operational excellence through care coordination and compliance with all contracts and regulations. As California Health and Wellness’ Case Management manager, Reina was responsible for the accreditation of newly developed case management programs, developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with national standards.

Overseeing multi-disciplinary teams of nurses, behavioral health professionals and paraprofessionals, she implemented an organization-wide integrated care model into the existing case management programs that increased efficiency, adherence to contractual obligations and the quality of care.

Reina earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California and her Bachelor of Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the State of California.

A northern and southern California native, Reina enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
