Philip Burton is an accomplished business development executive with over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare industry, championing inclusion and driving strategic disruptions of the status quo. He delivers results through a straightforward approach, data-driven decision-making, relationship building and stakeholder engagement.

Before joining Health Management Associates, Philip was a managing partner with DHR Global, overseeing the Healthcare and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices. He was responsible for business development and engagement with healthcare clients’ senior leadership. Conducting stakeholder interviews across the client’s C-suite, board and community leaders, Philip identified needs and advised on solutions.

Working with a variety of healthcare organizations, ranging from medical centers and delivery systems to biotech and pharmaceutical companies, Philip has a proven understanding of the needs of complex health systems and organizations. Holding both in-house and consulting executive-level positions, he aligns talent, business growth and organizational development to meet identified goals.

Philip is a recognized proponent of inclusion in the healthcare industry, especially within leadership, innovation and venture capital. As a principal with WittKieffer, a global executive search firm, he developed and implemented the firm’s inaugural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Practice. Prioritizing networking, teamwork and accountability throughout his career, Philip has demonstrated the value of diverse perspectives at every level of an organization.

Philip has a bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University and a certificate in diversity, equity, and inclusion from Cornell University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the National Association of Health Services Executives and the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives.
