Loren Anthes is a strategic communications, legislative development and quality improvement expert with more than a decade of experience working in the healthcare sector at the federal, state and local level. He has worked in both the public and private sectors, implementing effective strategies around value-based care, Medicaid policy, harm reduction and community health.

Before joining Health Management Associates, Loren was vice president of external affairs for Yuvo Health, responsible for developing public-private partnerships with government agencies, public health departments and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) trade associations. In this role, Loren worked to outline and operationalize strategies to expedite FQHC adoption of value-based care and alternative payment models for community health centers. He worked collaboratively with the network, business development and managed care teams to map out growth plans and state-based go-to-market strategies for the organization.

Loren has demonstrated health policy expertise. In addition to serving as Yuvo Health’s internal health policy subject matter expert, Loren has worked in community health organizations, including safety-net provider systems, driving policy beneficial to the organization and the patients they serve. With the MetroHealth System, Loren successfully implemented the 1115 Medicaid Demonstration waiver, harm reduction policy expansions, and a number of financing regulations that improved care access, delivery and outcomes. Throughout his career, he has monitored, analyzed, reported and advised on health and human services legislative policy.

Leveraging his experience in healthcare policy, managed care, and value-based contracting, Loren navigates complex healthcare landscapes to produce innovative solutions for health systems improvement. He has conducted needs assessments for government, managed care and large health systems. As a lecturer with Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, he has developed health systems science curriculum for the college’s family medicine collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic, the Transformative Care Continuum. He has also established the Center for Medicaid Policy in Ohio with the Center for Community Solutions and founded his own company focused on health record interoperability with the ultimate goal of supporting health delivery systems’ organizational capacity and quality of care.

Loren earned his master’s degree in healthcare business administration from Baldwin Wallace University and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Ohio University. He is certified in healthcare quality and safety by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and in human research by the CITI Program. He is also a Lean Six Sigma greenbelt.
