With over 30 years of executive-level financial and operational management experience, Laine Dowling specializes in revenue cycle optimization, operational transformation and strategic business development. Prioritizing data-driven decision making and talent development, Laine delivers scalable growth, improved operations and enhanced patient encounters.
Before joining Health Management Associates, Laine worked with McKesson for over 17 years in several senior leadership roles, most recently serving as vice president of revenue cycle operations. Laine had full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility, leading revenue cycle operations for multi-specialty medical practices and overseeing $2.74 billion in net revenue. He ensured the corporation’s financial performance while managing over 300 full-time employees to drive operational success.
While at The US Oncology Network, Laine leveraged his revenue cycle management expertise and change management experience to create a centralized business office for The Network practices in Virginia, Maryland and Florida, improving revenue cycle processes and managing $1.3 billion in net revenue. As vice president of operations and client management, he also spearheaded operational improvements that supported outsourced functions and yielded $204 million in cash collections, optimizing revenue cycle activities for multiple medical practices.
Throughout his career, Laine has demonstrated leadership in strategic visioning and transition guidance. He has overseen large multi-specialty medical and dental practices, including strategically designing offices and reengineering clinic operations to increase volume and market share. He has facilitated group mergers and joint ventures in medical practices, aligned financial management and cost-control efforts with business goals, and led cross-functional teams to seamlessly implement electronic medical record (EHR) systems and centralized business operations.
Laine earned his master’s degree in health and business administration and his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Washington.
Outside of work, Laine enjoys spending time on the water during the summer and skiing in the winter.
