She is an industry expert in applying strategic and innovative solutions to improve care delivery, build capacity and ensure financial stability for clients.
Before joining Health Management Associates, Corrie served as an independent healthcare industry advisor. She provided advisory services for private equity, advisory firms, and industry leaders on relevant strategic and operations topics, including health care market outlook, industry trends, revenue cycle overviews, healthcare analytics, labor, post-acute services, mergers and acquisitions, and partnership relationships.
Corrie previously served as the senior vice president of strategy with Kaufman Hall, where she provided strategy consulting for mid-market healthcare systems and payers. Her areas of expertise included enterprise and service strategy development, partnership identification and development, integrated strategic and financial planning services, ancillary services such as rehabilitation and behavioral health, business development, and strategic engagements in the provider and payor spaces. Corrie conducted a partnership evaluation for a regional health system merger, focused on offering innovative health services in both the urban and rural South. She led a value proposition and discussions for a potential academic and provider affiliation. She also offered integrated strategic and financial plans for hospitals and healthcare systems, including a regional rehabilitation center in the Pacific Islands.
Corrie was the director of growth and innovation for Optum’s advisory services, where she offered consulting services for external health markets and internal United Health Group clients. She also identified and developed strategic partnerships focused on disruptors and startups, working in digital, consumer engagement and information technology (IT). Corrie created a go-to-market strategy and Medicare Advantage education program for a startup IT product that tracks seniors’ activities of daily living and leverages artificial intelligence for risk assessment management.
Further demonstrating her focused experience, Corrie was the senior strategy advisor of corporate development and enterprise strategy for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. She served as the strategy lead for the Medicare Advantage federal segment and the community engagement team lead for the enterprise strategy department. Corrie also outlined and implemented the internal business development and relationship management process and conducted evaluations for partnerships like a payer and Medicare-only care delivery system, a national diabetes management product, and a material health digital platform for Medicaid and commercial segments, seeing the relationships through to program development and product deployment.
Prior to this, Corrie worked as the management consultant team lead of healthcare strategy and innovation with Huron Consulting Group, leading the healthcare operations, strategy and business advisory practices. She developed methodologies and products for service line optimization, shared service models, market assessments, virtual care, rural healthcare delivery, behavioral health, end of life care, care management and consumerism. Corrie also developed her skillset through her early-career positions with UNC Health Care, serving as the strategy consultant of strategic planning and network development, the patient access manager of revenue cycle management, and a project manager with the dean’s office.
Corrie earned her Master of Healthcare Administration in finance and global health as well as her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
