Carmen Ayes is a diligent healthcare professional with over a decade of experience working in diverse healthcare settings. Applying her project management and relationship building skills, she delivers pivotal leadership in research, bilingual (Spanish) community engagement, quality and compliance, stakeholder management, policy analysis, and delivery system optimization initiatives.
Before joining HMA, Carmen worked on patient experience efforts for CHI Memorial Vascular Surgery Specialists and the Neuroscience Institute as a patient navigator. In this role, she helped develop detailed patient referral reports and helped transition the Neurosurgery Institute into Allscripts, an electronic health records (EHR) system. She also created patient education materials and served as a point person for patients and referring offices.
Carmen joined CHI Memorial from the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center, where she worked as a core research assistant planning, conducting and evaluating experiments. Carmen collaborated on projects with key national and global partners, including clinical research organizations, consulting companies and academic institutions. From this role and her work with ICON, a clinical research organization, Carmen has experience in all phases of exploratory research and clinical trials, reviewing and conducting data analyses, interpreting, and reporting results.
Carmen utilizes her strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills to drive operational efficiencies. As a molecular biologist with Aegis Sciences Corporation, Carmen adhered to quality assurance practices and coordinated testing operations to meet and exceed productivity goals. Working in AEGIS’ biopharma division, she analyzed complex data sets to identify COVID-19 trends and communicate issues in real-time, enhancing workflows and reducing downtime.
As Tennessee Community Organizations’ (TNCO) program coordinator, she developed a non-member database to compile qualified potential members and drive growth efforts. She has developed outreach and publicity campaigns and is a capable communicator with experience managing stakeholder relationships.
With TNCO, she spearheaded the organization’s conference planning over two years through the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to virtual events, successfully managing sponsors, campaigns, committees, and board meetings. She was also a registered lobbyist during her time at TNCO and facilitated stakeholder engagement for their members leading legislative days and facilitating policy tracking for their members.
Proficient in a range of software and systems, Carmen implements strategic solutions and further improves efficiencies. Carmen is also familiar with electronic health record (EHR) and pharmacy systems, as well as client relationship management (CRM) software. Carmen has provided direct patient care as a physical therapy technician and a pharmacy technician.
Carmen obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology from Lipscomb University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in public health from Liberty University. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
