A mission-driven transformational leader, Nai Kasick advances healthcare equity and access through operational, technological and programmatic improvement strategies. With over a decade of executive experience in program development, community and provider engagement, quality improvement and health equity, Nai leverages her background in health plan operations to foster healthier communities and positively impact lives.
Before joining Health Management Associates, Nai served as vice president and Medi-Cal lead with Health Net, a Centene Corporation. She was responsible for designing and executing the Medi-Cal strategic plan, the $25 million budget and the CalAIM implementation. She met the Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS’) requirements efficiently to implement the CalAIM Initiative and Housing and Homelessness Incentive Program in Central Valley’s four counties, serving 400,000 Medi-Cal beneficiaries.
Demonstrating her strategic visioning and leadership abilities, Nai managed the L.A. Care Health Plan’s (LAC’s) Health Services as senior director, designing innovative initiatives to drive quality performance and improve access to care. Implementing enterprise-wide plans, Nai led efforts to increase overall access to care including improving after-hours care access and introducing new services like virtual care, a leading urgent care provider, and online health educational tools, resources and coaches.
Nai also implemented a program to highlight LAC’s benefits to members and provide health and wellness programs to the community. Serving as a member of the leadership team, she collaborated on a project framework that launched 22 community resource centers in partnership with Blue Shield Promise, directly overseeing relationship management, engagement and operational strategies.
In addition to developing new and innovative programmatic and technological solutions, Nai is highly adept at leading business transformations and change management. She chaired an enterprise National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Equity Accreditation team and earned LAC distinction as one of the first Medicaid health plans to achieve this accreditation. Under Nai’s direction, LAC also saw year over year improvement in selected metrics for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and Consumers Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS). She accomplished these improvements through targeted interventions and improvements, partnering with department leaders and community partners.
Nai earned her Master of Public Health from California State University. She has a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California. She is a certified health education specialist and has completed the University of California’s project management certification and the Disparities Solutions Center’s Disparities Leadership program.
