Jennifer Swartz is an accomplished strategy consultant with over 20 years in the healthcare management consulting industry, advising non-profit healthcare organizations ranging from small rural hospitals to large multistate health systems.

Prior to joining HMA, Jennifer was a senior consultant at M. Jennings Consulting. In this role, she partnered to develop strategic plans for healthcare organizations, including crafting mission, vision, and values statements for hospitals and health systems. She helped organizations assess their service complements and developed strategic and business plans for centers of excellence. Jennifer also participated in engagements to answer a specific strategic question (such as viability of urgent care strategy or merger potential); developed action planning templates at the tactical level with timing, resources, and responsible parties; and performed data analysis including patient segmentation, demand, utilization, medical staff, and market share. Jennifer used data from assessments to identify key findings and created presentation materials to meet planning engagement objectives. She also tracked emerging trends in the healthcare industry and created presentations to engage senior management and trustees.

Jennifer previously worked for several years as a medical editor and grant writer for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She edited manuscripts, book chapters, and other documents with a particular ability for working with English as a second language (ESL) authors. Through her work, she earned the confidence of department heads and faculty and became a trusted partner to advance results from departmental research.

Jennifer earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature from James Madison University. She is also board certified as a medical editor in the life sciences from the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS).
